John, known online as “The Commercial Solar Guy,” has almost 15 years of experience on the roof and in the fields, building, selling, and developing solar power projects. Weekday mornings he’s a Technical Writer for pv magazine USA where he reports on solar industry data, trends, legislation, equipment and manufacturers, projects, finance, etc. At his day job, he’s the General Manager of CSG Developers LLC, but also specifically focuses on communicating directly with customers during the project development and consulting process.
John has heavy experience in financial modelling, policy, industry connections, project pricing, and significant volumes of general industry knowledge. Additionally, John has light – but varied – experience in hands-on solar construction.
Most recently, John has been working with the Yucaipa Valley Water District as a customer’s consultant to support them developing and deploying multiple solar, lithium ion battery, and gas generator onsite power plants. The two fold purpose of these power facilities is to protect the facilities from California power grid shut downs due to wildfires, and save the publicly funded entity millions of dollars in electricity costs over the coming decades.
